A dedicated group of community-driven leaders are embarking on an adventure of a lifetime to construct a community centre for holistic development in the Overberg region.
The founders of River Mount Hope Centre – Michelle Saayman (Director), Erasmus Smit (Director), Wendy McMillan (Director) and Gershom Saayman (Operations Manager) – have a rich legacy of leadership and are passionate about giving back and serving local, national, and international communities.
The community centre will focus on comprehensive initiatives that integrate various aspects of life, which encompass a person’s physical, mental, social, emotional and spiritual well-being. This approach seeks to elevate the overall quality of life for residents and foster a harmonious community.
The organisation’s short-term goal is to purchase land in the Overstrand area where they hope to create a vibrant community hub that will serve as a sanctuary for learning, healing and growth. They aim to provide resources and opportunities that empower individuals and foster a strong sense of community.
“By addressing the needs of the whole man, we can create a more enriching and fulfilling environment for everyone,” said Saayman.
In pursuit of their ambitious plans the River Mount Hope Centre is appealing to local businesses, organizations, and individuals for funding. RMHC is a non-profit company registered as a Public Benefit Organisation. The organisation also has a Section 18A status, which means donors can be issued a tax certificate, making their donation tax-deductible.
Saayman stated that all monetary donations received will be used towards securing the land and construction of the centre. “Your contribution will play an instrumental role in realising the vision and it will make a monumental difference. If you aren’t able to contribute money, but would like to still help in other ways for example by volunteering or providing resources or simply just sharing the vision with others, it will help tremendously.
“Together, we can build a future that embodies hope and growth.”
River Mount Hope Centre thanked Hemel-en-Aarde Horse Trails and Hermanus Whale Cruisers, two of the top adventure providers in the Overberg, for partnering with the RMHC team as they are venturing upon this exciting journey.
Saayman gave the assurance that the River Mount Hope Centre is committed to transparency and accountability in all its endeavours.
