In the name of community spirit, reverend Khayalethu Galada’s NPO, Sivuyisiwe Isizwe, makes a tangible difference in the lives of disadvantaged children in Greenfield.
Since its establishment on February 1, 2023, Sivuyisiwe Isizwe has provided essential support to 36 children aged one to five from low-income families.
Located opposite the Greenfield Clinic, Galada and his four volunteers offer the children nutritious food and educational programmes, creating a brighter future for Greenfield’s most vulnerable kids.
To break the cycle of poverty, the NPO plans to start a skills development programme, including sewing projects, bakery training and gardening.
“These projects aim to equip parents with income-generating skills, promoting self-sufficiency,” said Galada.
Despite its dedication, Sivuyisiwe Isizwe faces significant challenges. It operates from Galada’s private residence, so there is limited space.
Galanda said, “We need a bigger place for cooking and containers to separate the kids.”
But space is not the only issue. The NPO currently operates without funding, relying on donations and community support, which don’t fully cover its daily operations.
Sivuyisiwe Isizwe urgently needs donations to continue providing vital services to its beneficiaries. It appeals for food, clothing, toys, and containers for use as separate classrooms and a cooking area.
