NICHOLS, NY (WBNG) — The Tioga Downs Regional Community Foundation announced around $2 million being awarded to nonprofits in the Southern Tier and Northern Pennsylvania on Tuesday.
The ceremony was held during a luncheon at the Tioga Downs Casino & Resort in Nichols, NY.
Organizations were highlighted for their initiatives in addressing and combatting poverty and community deterioration.
One of the recipients was the Cornell Cooperative Extension of Tioga County. They will use their grant to make critical improvements at their Hilltop Community Farm in Candor, NY.
“This is an amazing feeling,” said Executive Director of Cornell Cooperative Extension of Tioga County Dr. Kristie Snyder. “I love being a part of the community and the generosity of Tioga Downs and the Tioga Downs Foundation is just so impactful for our organization and all of the other recipients here today.”
More than 170 organizations applied for the grant.
