Riedel Foundation, United Way support Hannibal nonprofits with matching grants

The Riedel Foundation and the United Way of the Mark Twain Area are teaming up in a fundraiser that will double the donations to local non-profit organizations.

Together the Riedel Foundation and the United Way will be matching up to $10,000 in gifts to local nonprofits during Giving Week.

On Tuesday, December 3, the United Way will kick off Giving Week with Charcuterie for Charity.

At that event, and throughout the week, donors will be able to designate which United Way nonprofit agencies will receive their donations. The Riedel Foundation and the United Way will match those donations up to $10,000 to double the giving power.

At its November meeting, Riedel Trustees awarded a $5,000 matching grant to the United Way, with the United Way kicking in another $5,000.

The donations to the non-profits during Giving Week will be in addition to the regular amounts awarded annually by the United Way. Many of the agencies benefit from separate Riedel grants as well.

As a term of its trust, the Riedel Foundation can only award money to non-profits that serve Hannibal residents, but with the United Way kicking in on the match, all United Way agencies are eligible to receive the additional donations.

Charities eligible to receive matches include:
