The Gering City Council approved a trio of Keno fund grant recommendations Tuesday night, including a significant request for the Multipurpose Center.
A $20,000 grant will allow the center to replace the two furnaces that are original to the building that was built in 1978, as well as getting a new AC unit to replace one that could fail at any time.
2024 has already seen extensive repairs to the facility, including another new AC unit, new fire doors to meet city code and close to $10,000 in plumbing repairs.
Council members also approved Keno grants of $4,000 each to the Warrior Run and the Scotts Bluff County Volunteer Center.
