Marquette Haunted Hayride fundraises for nonprofits, youth groups
MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) – Marquette’s Haunted Hayride organizers say this was the best year yet for the annual fundraiser.
This was the 16th year of the hayride. Over the course of three days the hayride brought in roughly $50,000 to be split between 23 participating county nonprofits.
Andi Goriesky, Marquette’s Haunted Hayride president and coordinator, says the hayride is a fun way to raise money for your programs.
“I guess I want people to start thinking like in June or July, ‘Hey wow this could be a lot of fun, this would be a great way to raise money for our class trip… fundraising for new uniforms or anything like that.’ We had several groups this year that fundraised and then gave their money away,” said Goriesky.
Goriesky says there is a meeting on the last Tuesday of August that explains the workload involved in taking part in the hayride. To anyone considering applying, it is recommended that you attend that meeting to make sure before you apply.
The Marquette County Haunted Hayride is made up of a group of volunteers that make the event possible every year.
