Redwood Credit Union donates to community service organizations

Redwood Credit Union marks International Credit Union Day, Oct. 17, with $56k-plus in donations to nonprofits that perform community service.

Redwood Credit Union honored International Credit Union Day in service to others. The Santa Rosa based financial institution donated 25 cents for every credit card transaction made on Oct. 17, it announced a week later.

The total earmarked to help five local nonprofit organizations amounted to $56,434, a 15% increase from the prior year as the largest donation drive yet.

The nonprofit recipients include: Community Action Marin based in Marin County; North Coast Opportunities in Lake and Mendocino counties; UpValley Family Centers in Napa County; La Luz in Sonoma County, and Larkin Street Youth Services in San Francisco County.

The nonprofits specialize in empowering their communities with educational opportunities ranging from job training to financial advancements.

Redwood Credit Union CEO Brett Martinez referred to the credit union commemoration day as a time for “positive impact.”

Founded in 1950, Redwood Credit Union is a full-service credit union serving more than 465,000 members with $8 billion in assets.
