Women United offering grants to non-profits that support Siouxland youth
SIOUX CITY (KTIV) – Women United has announced area non-profits can now apply for their 2025 grant program.
Women United, an auxiliary group of United Way of Siouxland, says these grants are for programs focused on improving the lives of Siouxland children. These programs must be research-based and serve children from birth to 18 years of age.
There are two types of grants available, program grants and “Brighter Future” grants.
- Program grants: These grants range from $500 to $2,499 and are made as one-time awards with a focus on specific needs.
- Examples include, but are not limited to, supplies, equipment, books, technology, etc.
- Funds must be expended within one year of the grant award.
- Semi-annual progress reports are required.
- Brighter Future grants: These grants range from $2,500 to $50,000 and can be made to support new, ongoing, or expanding programs that address issues related to the well-being of children.
- Examples include but are not limited to, programs that address childhood poverty, education, literacy, safety and health.
- Funds must be expended within one year of the grant award.
- Quarterly progress reports are required.
- Applications can be made for a second year of funding.
“Women United grant awards are program and project-driven. Therefore, funding is awarded to proposals that members believe have the best chance to address the most urgent needs of children in the Siouxland community. Indirect expenses such as endowments, administrative salaries, overhead costs, and facility purchases/expansion or leasing costs are not eligible for Women United funding,” stated officials in a press release.
Women United works to engage women as active philanthropists through leadership, fundraising and advocacy. Since its founding in 2006, they’ve awarded $1,328,390 in grants to programs that support Siouxland youth.
