Charlottesville nonprofits join together to start youth wellness program

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) – Several Charlottesville non-profits are coming together to host a trunk-or-treat, but it is about more than just costumes and candy.

The groups are unveiling a new youth program for the Charlottesville area.

“We want to try to get like a holistic service to showcase that, you know, we understand, we’ve been there,” said Wartime Fitness Owner, George Rivera.

Wartime Fitness, Love No Ego, H.E.R. Sports, The Art Bar, and Legacy Driven, are joining forces to create a new youth program they are calling F.Y.I.

“We‘re going to introduce the community to a project that we’re doing together as a group of us, nonprofits working together FYI, Flourish Youth Initiative,” said Rivera.

The Flourish Youth Initiative is a partnership between several groups that will help kids in whatever area is needed.

“We’re going to give a whole, a wraparound holistic service for the youth, mental, health, physical health, just help them with school and just everyday life,” said Rivera.

Rivera says the goal is using the work each non-profit does to give back to the next generation.

“We want to let the youth and the future, kids know that we on your side and we’re here to help,” said Rivera.
