Gala raises $50,000 to support vulnerable children, families | News, Sports, Jobs

Dwell recently announced the success of its first annual Family Table Gala held in mid-October, raising $50,000.

“This event brought together community members, local leaders, advocates, and supporters to champion the mission of providing unmatched support to foster, adoptive, and kinship families so that they are equipped with the tools they need to facilitate healing in vulnerable children,” a news release said.

The Family Table Gala embodies the belief that “everyone has a seat at the table”; symbolizing inclusivity and community support. While not everyone is called to foster or adopt, everyone can do something when it comes to helping children from hard places and the families who love them. Together, we can share resources, offer encouragement, and advocate for those who need it most.

“I am overwhelmed by the generosity of our community,” said Jenn Lake, executive director of Dwell, according to the news release. “Hearing from foster and adoptive families about our work reinforces why we do this. Every dollar raised will help provide essential physical, emotional, and spiritual resources and training for families caring for vulnerable children. I have many conversations with individuals who say ‘this is wonderful but I could never be a foster parent or adopt.’ And I tell them that’s okay! Not everyone is called to foster or adopt waiting children, but everyone has a seat at this table. You may not feel called to foster or adopt, but you have gifts and talents to offer for the cause. Pull up a chair, let’s get to work!”
