Friends of the Library fall book sale offers more than 500,000 items

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) – Alachua County Library District officials kicked off the annual Friends of the Library fall book sale Saturday morning.

With more than 500,000 items for sale, the book sale is one of the largest in Florida.

This year, it’s happening at the Friends of the Library Bookhouse located at 430 North Main Street in Gainesville.

First-edition books, signed works, vinyl records, games and puzzles are all available.

On the sale’s final day, Oct. 30, all items will be $0.10.

Profits go towards the library district and community literacy projects throughout the county.

Event organizers ask you to bring bags or boxes to carry home your goods.

Book sale hours:

  • Saturday, Oct. 26 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Sunday, Oct. 27 from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Monday, Oct. 28 from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Tuesday, Oct. 29 from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. (half-price day)
  • Wednesday, Oct. 30 from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. ($0.10 day)

On Thursday, Oct. 31, the sale will open only to non-profits. Organizers ask non-profit leaders to call (352)-375-1676 to reserve a pickup time.
