More than $500,000 from Coastal Carolina Fair aids 78 nonprofits
LOWCOUNTRY, S.C. (WCIV) — More than $500,000 raised by last year’s Coastal Carolina Fair has been distributed to 78 nonprofit organizations, providing a significant boost to community services.
Erin Ulmer from Camp Rise Above, expressed gratitude for the support. “Having received support from them for years now, we are really able to expand and grow to serve more and more families in our community,” Ulmer said.
The funds were distributed by the Exchange Club of Charleston, which organizes the fair. Ulmer added, “I’ve always loved the fair. And it’s really exciting to take my own kids, have a day of fun, but to also be able to share that it all goes towards bigger changes in the community.”

Another recipient, Habitat for Humanity of Berkeley County, highlighted the impact of the donations. April Elswick from the organization said, “While we’re building homes, other organizations are finding homes for foster kids, other organizations are doing camps, other organizations are providing all the different needs that we need here in the Tri-County.”
Elswick noted that the contributions allow Habitat to expand its mission. “It makes us be able to build more. It makes it to where instead of building one house a year, we can build three and four houses a year, which means that more families are getting forever homes,” she said.
Tony Giuliani, President of the Exchange Club of Charleston, expressed pride in the results. “For me to be able to be in this role that I am here, and being able to help, it really means a lot,” Giuliani said. “It’s very challenging, but I’ve got a great board of people that work with me, and are very helpful. We’re a team, that all comes together and works together. And as you can see, it’s successful. We’re ready to give a lot of money away.”
