United Way HPE announces opening of funding applications for local non-profits

United Way Hastings & Prince Edward (HPE) has announced the opening of its application process for funding,

This will give local organizations the opportunity to apply for financial support.

In our region, organizations like The North Hastings Community Cupboard Foodbank, North Hastings Children’s Services and Community Care North Hastings, including Meals on Wheels, all receive United Way funding

“With the rising cost of living and the daily challenges facing our communities, United Way HPE is committed to supporting initiatives that create meaningful impact,” says Kaitlyn Lalonde, Director of Community Impact, United Way Hastings & Prince Edward. “We know the pressures are increasing, and our community is in need now more than ever.”

United Way HPE is inviting applications from charitable organizations who provide programs within one of three priority areas. These are All that Kids Can Be, From Poverty to Possibility, and Strong Communities.

In order to be eligible for funding the organization must provide services to residents of Hastings County, have a volunteer board of directors who governs their agency, provide audited annual financial statements, and be a qualified donee under the Canada Revenue Agency.

Lalonde says that all applications will be evaluated by a citizen review committee made up of community volunteers who will make funding recommendations to the United Way HPE Board of Directors.

Applications must be completed and submitted online by Nov. 9 at 4 p.m.

Agencies are welcome to participate virtually in Application Training on Oct. 23 at 3 p.m.
