Where your donations are going

BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) – It’s a great day to “give where you live” during the sixth annual Brazos Valley Gives.

“It’s a wonderful feeling,” Patricia Gerling with the Community Foundation of the Brazos Valley, which powers the 18-hour period of giving, said. “It’s all about our nonprofit community and the good works that they do here.”

This year, 198 nonprofits are participating in the initiative. Each represents causes including education, healthcare, mental health, and Veteran services.

The Community Foundation’s goal is to raise $1.5 million.

There were also four locations where donations could be dropped off.

Bryan-College Station The Eagle – 1729 Briarcrest Drive 7 a.m. through 7 p.m.

Caldwell Caldwell Civic Center – 103 Texas 21 9 a.m. through 6 p.m.

Navasota Navasota Center – 101 Stadium Drive 9 a.m. through 7 p.m.

Brenham Washington County Chamber of Commerce – 314 South Austin Drive 8 a.m. through 6 p.m.

Leah Vernon explains how Brazos Valley Gives could help the Bryan ISD Education Foundation.

The Bryan ISD Education Foundation raises funds to help elevate students and teachers. A majority of the funds raised go toward teacher grants and scholarships, according to executive committee member Leah Vernon.

Brazos Valley Veterans Memorial explains how Brazos Valley Gives could help.

The Brazos Valley Veterans Memorial is located at Veterans Park in College Station. It’s a 12-acre site with statues that represent 14 of the 18 wars Americans fought in since the American Revolution.

The organization’s board joined Brazos Valley Gives to fundraise for the four remaining statues.

Brazos Valley African American Museum explains how Brazos Valley Gives could help.

The Brazos Valley African American Museum is located in Bryan and has permanent and rotating exhibits that highlight local and national Black history. The funds given through Brazos Valley Gives will go toward the building’s maintenance.

First Methodist Church of Bryan grants Mobility Worldwide with “big” check during Brazos Valley Gives.

Mobility Worldwide works to give the gift of mobility back to people in developing countries. Volunteers in the Brazos Valley work to build mobility carts for them.

Representatives From the First Methodist Church of Bryan presented the organization with a $6,000 donation Tuesday morning.

The Brazos Church Pantry is a local non-profit organization that shares the love of Christ by providing food to those who need it in the Brazos Valley. It’s located at 304 W 26th St A in Bryan.
