TinaMaria Fernandez, founder of HOPE Esperanza, to be honored with community impact award

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) – The North Platte Area Chamber and Development Corporation has named TinaMaria Fernandez as its recipient for the community impact award for her work and passion for HOPE Esperanza and her contributions towards the future development of North Platte’s workforce.

TinaMaria Fernandez is the founder and executive director of HOPE Esperanza and has been apart of the chamber community for about two years.

“Gary (Person) and Cassie (Condon), they’re all great and they are constantly sharing the things that we do, they come to our things, they support in anywhere needed,” Fernandez said. “The chamber is actually very great for non-profits, a grassroot non-profit, like HOPE.”

For the past three to four years, Fernandez and her team have worked countless hours helping families in the community connect the dots to different helpful resources.

“We are very needs-base, community focused non-profit,” Fernandez said. “We look at the community, kind of landscape it, see what services are there, and what services are lacking, and when we bridge gaps and provide services that aren’t there.”

There is no specific number that can be counted for the lives HOPE Esperanza has touched, but Fernandez says it’s all been worth it.

“The world may never know,” she said. “I always think of the story of the seashells and the person throwing the seashells in and a man comes along and says, ”‘there are so many you’ll never save them all. And a little boy says, I made a difference to that one, I made a difference to that one.‘” “‘So you know when you do this type of work it just causes ripples and you just hope that it goes on forever.’”

Fernandez will be awarded Thursday evening during the North Platte Area Chamber and Development Corporation’s annual meeting and awards ceremony.
